Data we process
What GuruSup Brain keeps from your sources, what is searchable, and what an assistant receives when it asks a question.
This page describes the data GuruSup Brain handles. It only states what the product does today. Where we have not confirmed a detail, the page leaves it out.
What Brain keeps
| What | What Brain does with it |
|---|---|
| Original content from your sources | Kept, so facts can be traced back to their source. |
| What Brain learned | Written as pages of Brain's memory. Only what Brain has learned is searchable. |
| Questions and answers | Brain keeps a history of them. |
| Organization activity | Brain keeps an activity record of admin actions such as changing a member's access. |
| Your team's contact details | Brain keeps the contacts you add so it can ask a colleague a question. |
What each source contributes
| Source | What Brain processes | What Brain does not process |
|---|---|---|
| Slack | New messages in public channels, private channels and group messages the app has joined | Messages posted before the app posted its notice in the channel, channels the app has not joined, and direct messages between people |
| Notion | The pages and sections you choose to share, plus a Notion export if you upload one as a backfill | Anything you did not share |
| HubSpot | Deals, with their linked contacts and activity | Anything outside what the connector reads. See Connectors and scopes. |
| Webhook | The JSON objects and files you send to your webhook URL | Anything you do not send |
| File upload | The files you upload | Anything you do not upload |
Brain's questions to a colleague over Slack use direct messages. That is why the Slack app asks for direct message permissions. See Connectors and scopes.
What an assistant receives
When an assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT asks Brain a question, Brain returns excerpts of pages of its memory, facts taken from them, and the titles and references of those pages. If the assistant asks for a whole page, it gets that page's text. When you use Brain through an assistant, Brain does not write the answer. The assistant does.
If an assistant saves knowledge to Brain, you cannot edit or remove that saved knowledge from the app afterwards.
