Retention and deletion
What happens to your data when you disconnect a source or remove a file.
This page covers what you can do in the app. It does not state legal retention periods, because we have not confirmed any.
What you can do in the app
| Action | What happens | What it does not do |
|---|---|---|
| Disconnect integration for a connected account (Slack, Notion, HubSpot) | Stops new content from that account and asks the provider to revoke the access Brain was given | Does not remove what Brain already learned |
| Remove source | Removes the source from your list and turns off its connection | Does not remove what Brain already learned |
| Remove an uploaded file before Brain has started learning from it | Removes the file from your uploads. Brain keeps a private copy of the original. | |
| Remove an uploaded file once Brain has started learning from it | Not possible from the app. Brain says "This file has already been included in a build." or "Files can only be removed before building your memory." | |
| Regenerate a webhook token | The old URL stops working | Does not remove data already sent |
The Local Uploads source has no connection to disconnect and cannot be removed.
What you cannot do in the app
- You cannot remove or edit knowledge an assistant saved to Brain.
