Getting StartedYour account

Your account

Change your name and avatar, set how Brain can reach you, check which knowledge categories you can read, and sign out.

The Account page is yours alone. It shows who you are in your organization, how GuruSup Brain can reach you when it needs an answer, and what you are allowed to read.

Open it

Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then Profile settings. On a phone, tap Account in the bottom bar (admins see Settings there, which opens the same page). Every signed-in person can open it.

The user menu also holds the Theme switch (system, light or dark) and Log out.

Profile

The Profile section shows your avatar, your name (or email if you have no name), your user ID and your role.

FieldCan you edit it?Notes
NameYesSaves when you leave the field or press Enter. Escape undoes your typing. Brain shows "Name updated."
Avatar URLYesPaste a link that starts with http:// or https://. Brain shows "Avatar updated." Without one, Brain draws a default avatar from your name.
EmailNoComes from your sign-in.
OrganizationNoShows your organization ID and "Fixed for your account."
RoleNo"Only another admin can change this, from Organization → Team." See Members and roles.

Admins can also change another person's name and avatar from Team.

Brain contact

When Brain can't answer, it can ask a colleague. The Brain contact section is where you decide whether Brain may ask you, and how. Members and admins both set up their own contact here. You don't need an admin to do it.

Until you enable it, the section reads "Not enabled for human escalations." Click Enable, then:

  1. Under Contact methods, choose Call or Slack and enter the value: a phone number with country code, or your Slack user ID (like U012ABCDEF, not an @handle).
  2. Slack needs the Slack workspace to be connected to your organization first. Brain checks the ID when you leave the field, or when you click Verify Slack user. You can't save until every Slack method is verified.
  3. Use Add method for more methods. The arrows change the order, and the first method is tried first. One method must stay.
  4. Under When to ask, write one topic per line.
  5. Click Save contact. Brain shows "The Brain can now reach you." and the section shows active.

Saving with no method gives "Add at least one contact method."

Disable removes your methods and topics after you confirm. Brain shows "The Brain will no longer reach you this way." You can enable it again later, but you will need to enter the details again.

The full field-by-field guide, including Slack ID errors, is in Brain contacts and external contacts. To follow the questions Brain asked on your behalf, see My requests.

Knowledge access

This card shows what you can read when you ask Brain.

RoleWhat the card shows
Admin"Admins retrieve knowledge from every category."
Member"Categories you can retrieve when asking the Brain." followed by your categories. With none, it reads "No categories granted yet."

A new member starts with no categories. An admin grants them from Team, see Members and roles. If you can't see what you expect in answers, check this card first.
