Resolve conflicts
Settle the cases where your sources disagree and GuruSup Brain cannot tell which one is right.
Sources disagree sometimes. A Notion page says one price, a Slack thread says another. GuruSup Brain settles the clear cases itself. Only the real conflicts, where it cannot tell which source is right, reach you.
Only admins see Conflicts. Open it from the sidebar, under Knowledge. Before the memory build starts, the page shows a preview with "Available once your memory is built", and a Get started button.
The page does not notify you when a new conflict arrives. Check it from time to time.
How a case is raised
While Brain learns new content, it compares statements that could clash. Each pair is a candidate. Brain sorts every candidate into one of four kinds:
| Kind | What it means | What Brain does |
|---|---|---|
| Later value replaces an earlier one | The facts changed over time, for example a date that moved. | Settles it itself. |
| Explicit correction | A source says it corrects another. | Settles it itself. |
| Different contexts | Both are true, for different customers, regions, products, plans or periods. | Settles it itself, keeping each with its context. |
| Real conflict | The statements address the same thing at the same time and no evidence decides between them. | Opens a case for you. |
Each case has a subject, a Decision needed question, and the alternatives that clash. It also has a severity: low, medium, high or critical. Brain sets the severity when it raises the case. Cases with higher severity come first.
Cases can come back
A case that is Resolved or Dismissed can return to Open if later content makes the statements clash again. A case that is waiting for a contact also returns to Open when new evidence changes it.
Read the page
The page says: "Where your sources disagree and GuruSup couldn't tell which is right. Pick what is true, or ask someone who knows." Refresh reloads it.
Four counters sit at the top:
| Counter | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Candidate evaluations | How many pairs of possibly conflicting statements Brain has compared so far |
| Auto-reconciled | Comparisons Brain settled by itself, in the three ways above |
| Unique cases raised | Distinct conflicts Brain opened |
| Automation rate | Auto-reconciled divided by candidate evaluations |
Below the counters, four tabs each show a count:
| Tab | What is in it |
|---|---|
| Open | Cases that need your decision |
| Awaiting response | Cases you decided that Brain still has to verify, and cases where a contact has been asked |
| Resolved | Cases that are closed |
| Dismissed | Cases closed as not really contradictory |
Cases are sorted by severity first, then by the most recent update.
Each case card shows when it was last updated, a subject, a severity badge such as "high severity", and the reason Brain raised it. It also shows a Decision needed question next to the Conflicting alternatives. Each alternative shows its text, and its authority and dates when Brain has them. A closed case shows how it was settled, for example the correct statement or the reason you gave.
On Awaiting response, each card also carries a label:
| Label | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Waiting for GuruSup to verify | Your decision is saved and Brain still has to check it. The card says "Your decision is saved as evidence. The case stays open until GuruSup verifies it." |
| Waiting for a contact | A colleague has been asked. Brain has not closed the case yet. |
Settle a case yourself
Open the case
Stay on the Open tab. Only cases here have buttons.
Pick an alternative, or just click Decide
Click the alternative you know is right. The button then reads Confirm alternative 1, or the number of the one you picked. If none of them is right, click Decide instead.
Choose a decision
The Decide panel opens. Under Decision, pick one:
| Option | When to use it | What you fill in |
|---|---|---|
| Confirm an alternative | One of the alternatives is correct | Correct alternative |
| Each is true in a different context | Both hold, in different situations | For each alternative, where it applies. The placeholder gives examples: Q3 2026, EU customers, the legacy plan. Give each alternative a different context. |
| Write the correct statement | Neither is right | Correct statement |
| Dismiss as not contradictory | The sources do not really disagree | Only How do you know? |
Say how you know
How do you know? is required for every decision. Point to the decision, document or person that settles the case.
Submit
Click Submit as evidence. Brain confirms with "Saved as evidence. GuruSup will verify it before closing the case."
Your decision does not close the case on its own. It becomes new evidence, and Brain verifies it on its next pass before deciding whether the case is Resolved or Dismissed. Until then the case sits in Awaiting response as Waiting for GuruSup to verify. You can't make a second decision on it in the meantime.
What a closed case does to the statements
When a case closes, Brain records what happened to each statement involved:
| Outcome | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Replaced | Another statement takes its place, and the old one stops being treated as current. |
| Withdrawn | Evidence withdraws it and nothing replaces it. |
| Kept with a context | It stays, limited to the context or dates where it holds. |
Which outcome applies depends on the evidence, including what you wrote under How do you know?. That is why a clear pointer to a decision, document or person matters more than the option you pick.
If a field is missing, the panel tells you which one:
| Message | Fix |
|---|---|
| Say how you know, so GuruSup can verify it. | Fill in How do you know? |
| Select one alternative. | Pick the correct alternative. |
| Write the corrected statement. | Fill in Correct statement. |
| Give both alternatives a context, and make them different. | Fill in where each one applies. |
Ask a colleague instead
If you do not know the answer, ask someone who does.
Click Ask a contact
On an open case, click Ask a contact. The dialog shows the question. GuruSup reaches out through Slack or a call, and the contact only sees a safe summary of the alternatives.
Choose who to ask
Under Who to ask, keep Let GuruSup choose, or pick a person. With the default, Brain picks based on what each contact is authorized to answer, how they prefer to be reached, and how often they have been contacted. If you pick a person, Brain checks that they are authorized to answer before it sends anything.
Click Ask
Brain confirms with "Asked. GuruSup is reaching out to a contact." The case moves to Awaiting response as Waiting for a contact until it is settled.
What the contact is asked
The contact is asked to confirm the current value of the property for the subject, for example the current renewal date for a customer. They are told that Brain holds several incompatible statements about it. They are not shown the statements, their sources or who wrote them. They are reached by Slack or by a call only.
Rules
- One ask per case. After a contact has been asked, the case can't be asked again. If Brain refuses to send the ask (see below), the case goes back to Open.
- No decision while a contact is being asked. The case has no buttons until it is settled.
- Decide or ask, not both. You can't ask a contact after you submitted a decision that is still waiting to be verified.
Who can be asked
The Who to ask list shows every contact that has a Slack or Call method, including external contacts. But a conflict question can only reach members who are allowed to see the sources involved. External contacts, and members without that access, are turned down when Brain tries to send.
Brain checks this when it tries to send, not when you open the list. If it refuses, the ask fails with "This contradiction changed since you opened it. Reload to see where it stands." and the case goes back to Open. Ask a member who can see the sources instead. See Brain contacts.
When the contact answers
The answer is saved as new knowledge and Brain checks it against the evidence. On its next pass Brain moves the case to Resolved or Dismissed. Until then the card can still read Waiting for a contact, even though the person has replied. Follow the request itself under Ingest, see Follow ingestion.
When a tab is empty
Open shows "No open conflicts" and "New conflicting claims show up here when GuruSup finds them." That is the good outcome. The other tabs say "No waiting conflicts", "No resolved conflicts" or "No dismissed conflicts". On Awaiting response, cases appear "while GuruSup is still working on them or waiting on a contact". On Resolved and Dismissed, cases appear once their decision has been verified.
